About Us

Rayson Homes Ltd – Crosshill Nursing Home / Proctor House Care Home

We all hope to be able to continue to live, safely, in our own homes when we get older however for some people, as their need for care and support increase, this might not be feasible or possible. (Click here to see the Services for Older People in Durham Booklet)

As State Registered Nurses our priority is to provide the best possible quality of care for all of our residents, whatever their unique needs, and having worked in the care industry for many decades, we appreciate that the decision to live in any residential or nursing care setting is always a big step, not only for the person needing the care, but for their family and friends too. We aim to assist in making the transition into care as stress free as possible, for all involved, and are committed not only to providing specialist 24 hour care, but also in making one of our homes, your home.

If you require any additional information then please feel free to view the website and / or contact us with any questions, queries or concerns. Our contact details can be found at the bottom of each webpage. You are also welcome to come to visit us, via appointment or un-announced, at either Proctor House in Shotley Bridge or Crosshill, our purpose built 25 bedded home in Stanhope, where we are sure your enquiry will be warmly received.

With best wishes,
David and Florence Rayson

Onwards and upwards ……..

Its been a dreadful year for many of us but hopefully things are set to improve in 2021. Most of our residents, in both homes, have now had their second vaccinations and many of our staff have had their first vaccination too.

Unfortunately Proctor House will be saying goodbye to Sheila, their Home Manager, in April this year. Sheila has been an extremely dedicated employee who has made it her mission to ensure our older adults with Learning Difficulties received the care they deserved for the last two decades. She will be sadly missed by the Organisation, her colleagues, residents, their families and friends but we all wish her all the best for her well deserved retirement.
