It’s Official … Crosshill is one of the BEST Care Homes in Durham !

Well we are sure you have all now heard the great news that Crosshill continues to go from strength to strength and has been awarded the accolade of being one of Durham’s Band 1 Care Homes. Although the recent gazette article (click here) gives all the details I’d like to say a heart felt thank you to all our staff for their continued hard work, dedication and commitment.

Having worked in a senior role in the NHS for over 20 years I have never been as happy as I am today, knowing we are able to deliver such high quality care to member of our local community.

Summer …. is it finaly here?

Well …. It looks as if Summer just might be round the corner and our Activities Coordinators have already begun to make plans.

Following their last successful visit Crosshill are welcoming back the‘Silver Belles’ in May, in June we are planning to go to a Tea Dance, entertainment is being planned for two BIG BIRTHDAYS in July & August and transport arranged for our monthly external trips, which this year will include Bowes Museum and Eggleston Hall.

Although I will continue to post information here we also propose to advertise details pertaining to the parties in the local gazette as we would like to ensure that as many people as possible can join us … after all, it’s not every day that we are fortunate in being able to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have been with us for 100 years !

Doesn’t  time fly … I can hardly believe Easter is just around the corner. The snow has almost gone, even from our Home in Stanhope, and already we have started a packed calendar of events for 2013.

Crosshill had their 21st birthday party in February and on Easter Saturday ‘Gilly’ is providing the entertainment for our Easter party which starts at 2pm. Staff, family and friends are all invited to attend. Stay posted for future events as we have some very special birthday parties planned for later in the year.

I am sure you are all aware of the extensive refurbishment plans that are currently underway in both Homes, informed by our residents, their families and friends, but you might be interested to learn that Crosshill now has WiFi facilities!

Family and friends have already taken the opportunity to ‘skype’ and/or ‘face time’ their nearest and dearest, thus ensuring they are able to keep in close contact, irrespective of the distance or the weather.

Best wishes to you all.     Maria
